ASIDE Internal Medicine Journal- Instructions for Authors

Regular Submissions

Types of Papers

Editorials

- Length: Maximum 500 words.
- Abstract & Keywords: Not required.
- Authorship: Limited to a maximum of 3 authors.
- References: Up to 3 references allowed.
- Submission: Only invited submissions accepted, focusing on subjects of general informative interest. Usually written by Editorial Board members or Guest Editors.

 

Review Articles

- Abstract: Must be structured.
- Length: Maximum 10,000 words.
- References: Up to 100 references.
- Keywords: Required.
- Submission: Unsolicited reviews will be considered.

 

Original Research Papers

- Abstract: Structured abstract required.
- Length: Up to 6,000 words.
- Figures & Tables: A total of 4-6 illustrations and tables allowed (each part of a figure counts separately).
- References: Maximum 60 references.

 

Clinical Trial Articles

- Scope: Results of interventional studies related to health, including pilot studies, safety and efficacy trials, etc.
- Abstract: Required (including clinical trial registry number).
- Length: Maximum 12,000 words.
- Figures & Tables: No more than 15 combined figures/tables.
- Special Instructions: Must include a flow diagram (e.g., CONSORT) in the "Materials and Methods" section.
- Registry: All trials must be registered in a public registry and comply with CONSORT standards.

 

Brief Communications

- Abstract: Structured abstract required.
- Length: Up to 1,000 words.
- Figures & Tables: 1-2 illustrations permitted.
- References: Maximum 10 references.
- Keywords: Required.
- Scope: Concise reports making a significant contribution to the field.

 

Technical Notes

- Scope: Descriptions of original surgical techniques and their application in a limited number of cases.
- Length: Up to 1,000 words.
- Figures: Maximum 4 illustrations.
- References: Up to 10 references.
- Abstract: No structured abstract required.

 

Letters to the Editor

- Length: Maximum of 1,500 words.
- References & Authorship: Up to 5 references and 5 authors allowed.
- Abstract & Keywords: Not required.
- Scope: Discussion on recent journal articles or case reports (must be formatted as Letters to the Editor).
- Editorial Revisions: Submissions are subject to shortening and revision as necessary.

 

Medical Images

- Scope: Share illustrative, unusual, or significant images accompanied by short case descriptions.
- Length: Maximum of 1,000 words.
- Authors & References: Up to 5 authors and 10 references.
- Abstract & Keywords: Not required.

 

Updates in Clinical Medicine

- Scope: Short papers providing updates on specific diseases or conditions in internal medicine.
- Length: Up to 1,000 words.
- References & Authorship: Maximum of 10 references and 7 authors.
- Abstract & Keywords: Not required.

 

Manuscript Submission

General Policies

- Originality: Manuscripts must be original and not under consideration elsewhere.
- Permissions: If including previously published content, obtain necessary permissions from copyright owners.

 

Online Submission

- Platform: Submissions are made through the ASIDE Journal’s online portal.
- Source Files: Provide all relevant editable source files (.docx or LaTeX).

 

ORCID ID

- Corresponding Author: Must provide an ORCID ID upon submission.

 

Manuscript Preparation

Title Page

- Title: Concise and informative.
- Author Information: Include all authors' names, affiliations, and the corresponding author’s email.
- ORCID: Provide a 16-digit ORCID for each author, if available.

 

Abstract & Keywords

- Abstract: Provide a structured abstract of 200-300 words (where required).
- Keywords: Provide 4-6 keywords for indexing purposes.

 

Statements and Declarations

Include the following statements under "Statements and Declarations":
- Competing Interests: Disclose any potential financial or non-financial conflicts of interest.

 

Text Formatting

- Document Format: Manuscripts must be submitted in Word format.
- Font: Use 12-point Times New Roman.
- Headings: Up to three levels of displayed headings.

 

References

- Citation Style: Reference citations should be numbered in square brackets (e.g., [1]).
- Reference List: Include all works cited in the text, numbered consecutively.
- Format Examples: Journal articles, books, and online documents must be formatted as specified.

 

Tables and Figures

- Numbering: Use Arabic numerals for all tables and figures.
- Captions: Provide concise titles and captions.
- File Format: Submit figures as EPS, TIFF, or compatible MSOffice files.

 

Ethical Responsibilities and Data Availability

- Ethical Standards: Follow ethical standards in line with COPE guidelines.
- Data Transparency: Datasets should be available to readers and archived in suitable repositories when appropriate.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
